Adjustments are the procedures Chiropractors use to correct subluxations. There are many different ways of adjusting, but they all aim to remove interference to your nervous system and improve the function of your spine. Chiropractors adapt their techniques to suit people of all ages and levels of health. When beginning care and/or after a new episode of trauma, adjustments are usually recommended to be relatively frequent to maximize their effect.
Generally, the longer your spine has been working incorrectly and the more spinal tension (layers of subluxations) that have built up, the more your muscles, ligaments, bones and delicate nerve tissues will have adapted to this distored function.
What to expect -
By correcting subluxatons, removing interference to your nervous system, your body is able to coordinate itself more fully. Reduced tension on spinal nerves, muscles and joints results in greater ease and well being. Many people report an increased clarity of thought and ability to adapt to stress following adjustments.
One of the major functions of your nervous system is to inform you about parts of you which are not working well or need your attention.
The first step in the healing process is experiencing your body more fully.
As you progress through the healing process, your defense systems, largely your body’s ability to ‘clean house’, will become stronger. This can result in symptoms becoming temporarily more noticeable. Many people experience emotional releases as nervous system tension decreases. During the process of spinal correction you may notice old aches or pains re-surfacing. This is know as retracing and it occurs as you use your body more fully on your journey through old distortion patterns and on to more vibrant health.
